Leicester Wedding
Leicester, in the East Midlands, is one of the largest cities in the UK. Apparently it once had Roman baths and a forum. Later Richard III was buried there, then reburied recently in pride of place near the high altar in Leicester Cathedral. Many other famous historical figues have a Leicester connection. Growth came later when the Grand Union Canal linked Leicester to London and Birmingham and manufacturing soared. Good railway connections also helped, then extensive housebuilding and immigration supported the need for labour. Nowadays there are many outstanding public buildings and, of course, the cathedral. There are no shortages of places to be married in style and comfort.
Built in 1792, this was intended to become the premier hotel in Leicester and is now one of the most impressive wedding venues in the area. It has four lavishly decorated bedrooms and a ballroom that can seat 200 guests in style. Apparently it can also be used for your ceremony, so you are all set once you arrive.
